Mechanical Celesta

Assemble me. Let the celestial music play!

Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do. Ugears is proud to introduce the second DIY musical instrument in our collection—the Mechanical Celesta. Like the Ugears Hurdy-Gurdy, the Mechanical Celesta is both a wooden mechanical model and a fully functional musical instrument. This special musical model is a simpler version of a pianola and includes elements of a piano, a music box, and a xylophone. Thanks to the Mechanical Celesta's ease of use, even the smallest child or those without any prior musical knowledge can begin to play music, by striking the keys or turning the crank to produce pre-programmed melodies. In "manual mode", when you press a key, the hammer strikes the plate, and the sound of the corresponding note is heard. In "programmed melody mode", you arrange a series of boards along a rotating drum, then turn the drum as pins on each board trigger the hammers to strike the correct notes.

You will find that the instructions include programming pins set to the melody of Carol of the Bells. Originally titled Shchedryk, this iconic melody was composed by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych. First performed more than 100 years ago, Shchedryk gained worldwide recognition after its debut at Carnegie Hall and became known as Carol of the Bells. This timeless masterpiece sounds wonderful on your Mechanical Celesta by Ugears, celebrating its enduring musical legacy.

Mechanical Celesta features:

  • Includes elements of a piano, a music box, and a xylophone
  • Two modes of playing
  • Use the keys to strike the metal plates (musical notes over an octave range)
  • Or turn the knob to play a pre-programmed melody on the player piano drum

DIY wooden musical instrument features:

  • Includes programming pins
  • Pre-laser-cut wooden parts
  • Assembles without glue or tools
  • Step-by-step instructions in 11 languages
  • Free spare parts upon request

My third model. I have quite some musical instruments. I LOVE all the gear stuff and the great ornamentic style. Building the programming chain was anoying :) 20time over doing the same, waxing every small wheel. But that is part of the game. I wonder why people ask for programing guides.. there is no secret but a little music theory. Another place to add programming sticks other than right on the front would be nice. That makes "programming a bit tricky. Also run the chain in the wrong rirection just for the sake of programming would be good.
Yes, the sound claves are a bit off, but if one wants true notes go to Thomann and buy single sound claves (C3 to C4).
I REALLY like your stuff, the quality you deliver and working on delicate parts. It teaches me keeping my patience. Try not to do all things in one day, becsue the fun is in building the model. :)

Love it…the G is out of key so that’s frustrating but maybe there is a fix

The woodwork itself is great and a lot of fun. Unfortunately the sound is really bad. (I can´t post a video here, so I did it on amazon). The A for example is half a tone to low, the rest just a bit better. Ugears doesn´t care at all. The only comment was: It´s not for professional use. This was a big disappointment

This kit was great fun to build, the instructions were excellent and the quality of the parts throughout was top notch. I only used one of the spare pieces due to a slight split as it came off the sprue, and I'm clumsy, so even these more advanced kits are accessible to the less dexterous of us.

Already thinking of which kit to get next!

Geniales Teil.
