The UGears Antique Box is following the tradition of its predecessors, other UGears storage sets such as, the UGears Treasure Box with a smart mechanism that allows the cover to smoothly slide to the side or the UGears Flower that features a little figurine inside the flower to store jewelry on to name a few. The Antique Box, however, goes further in the art of keeping your valuables with style. Whether you are new to UGears smart mechanisms or already familiar with them, this 3D puzzle set will still leave you amazed.

The intricate details of the exterior would be the first pleasant surprise waiting for you as soon as you open the package and see the meticulously pre-cut floral elements and oriental carvings, but it will not be the only one. In addition, the sides of the box, just like many other mechanical UGears sets, are open to reveal the moving gears of the secret multi-level mechanism that makes the Antique Box stand out among similar 3D puzzle sets.

How Ugears Antique Box Works

The magic of this charming set is revealed with a very easy motion. Simply open the lid by lifting a beautifully carved latch. The mirrored mechanism will slide two large compartments to the sides making the Antique Box ready to accommodate more treasures than it might seem at first glance. Two lower compartments will slide from underneath the middle part of the Box revealing the total of six compartments for knick-knacks, jewelry, and similarly valued items.

But this is not all, the Antique Box would have been a real tribute to Victorian-era treasure chests with secrets if it didn’t have secret compartments of its own! To reveal the secret, find the two buttons on the back of the Box and push them to find two more smaller storage spaces with lids on the top level of the box.

Don’t let the Antique Box’s delicate appearance fool you, it is a perfectly safe place not only to store everything you need but also to carry around thanks to a robust latch lock.

This is my first attempt at a UGears model. My husband has done two before me. So I wanted to try one out. It took me awhile to understand the directions as I am a novice but enjoyed putting it together. I had some problems with the gears but finally got it to work right. I learned you have to pay attention to the small details or things won\'t fit right. I\'m going to give this to my granddaughter. I know she will love the two secret openings! I may buy two more to build for my other granddaughters. I\'m sure the next ones will be much easier for me!
